Lancaster’s newest hotel, Penny Street Bridge opened on Tuesday 27th November to celebrate Lancashire Day. Lancashire Brewery Daniel Thwaites Plc, who own the site, proudly launched the newly refurbished £2million development to an audience of Lancashire’s press, VIPs and invited guests, as well as members of the public.
The opening ceremony was announced by the Town Cryer before the audience was addressed by Thwaites Retail Director Paul Howarth. The Right Worshipful Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor Helen Helme did the honours by cutting the ribbon and declaring Penny Street Bridge open to the public.
Also present were Lancashire cricket stars Stuart Law and Mal Loy, and the famous Thwaites shire horses, proving popular as always with the public.
Those attending were welcomed by the new managers, Mike and Sue Boagey and their team, with champagne flutes of Thwaites Flying Shuttle, the Official Beer of Lancashire Day and canapés of delights from the menu. This was followed by guided tours of the stylish new bedrooms and residents lounge, and a Lancashire Day quiz.
